Compressed air is used in a variety of occupational settings from industrial and manufacturing to life safety, analytical, and medical applications. Standards set forth by the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) are the most generally accepted standards for compressed air. Compressed gas standards published in the CFR 29 1910.134 and in NFPA 1500, Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program, each refer to CGA G-7.1 “Commodity Specification for Air” for compressed gases, standards and regulations.
