Dear Valued Clients:
Effective immediately, all compliance drinking water samples submitted for the analysis of Gross Alpha will also need to be analyzed for combined Radium 226 & 228. This rule was promulgated by the EPA in 2003, and ADEQ has incorporated EPA’s requirements into the Arizona drinking water rules. ADEQ is now enforcing the monitoring of both Gross Alpha and combined Radium. In the past, the analysis of combined radium was only required if a system had a Gross Alpha detect >5 pCi/L. The analysis of combined radium is now also required and is not dependent on the outcome of the Gross Alpha results.
